Okay, so I found an even more GINORMOUS lollipop than the one I used in a previous post. It was pink and swirly and destined to do great things!
Unfortunately, I forgot to implement the idea I had previously conceived. The reason? The adorable family I snapped pictures of. Not only were they cute and funny, but they were having so much fun taking big giant bites out of my GINORMOUS lollipop, that I became too caught up in their good time.
I know. It's not nice to blame two little girls for your failures. But I am. I mean, look at those faces! And it didn't end there. Check out these other adorable antics:
Like giggling...
Gossiping...
Even their piggies were being cute!
Sigh. Guess I'll wait for another weekend to snap my dream lollipop pic. Stay tuned!

Thank You, Boo Radley
Fans of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD will appreciate this: I think we encountered a Boo Radley moment during Saturday's photo shoot. Remember when recluse Boo Radley left little trinkets in a tree for Scout's older brother, Jem?
Well, we've been to those abandoned buildings in Chappell Hill, TX several times now. But this time, we found this waiting for us:
A sweet, but dirty little bear that looked like it had been living under the porch for some time now. My point is, I was snapping photos of those exact same benches one week ago:
No bear.
So where did it come from? Is someone living in those abandoned buildings? And if so, do they appreciate our little visits? Or perhaps, did that helpless toy bear crawl out from under its porch, desperate to be taken home and washed? Or am I just imaging things?
Either way, I keep thinking of that creepy bear. Maybe I should drive back to those abandoned buildings and see if he's still there, waiting?
Then again, what if he's not?

3000 Photos Later...
And I am back from Dallas! We drove to the Big D this past weekend to take pics of The Ondrey Family. This is them:
Love them to death! But did you notice? Not one ugly kid. The entire family is as beautiful as they are kind and fun.
But boy, was this a tough shoot! Five kids, two parents and two grandparents does not make for an easy session. Especially when it's 91-degrees outside and the family is prone to getting flushed.
We started our day at the Fort Worth Stockyard, which leads me to Lesson Learned One. Know your location well. We made the mistake of not visiting the Stockyard before we went there, which means a lot of time was spent searching for the right spots. Oops. Not so smart in this Texas heat.
Still, we managed to snag some really great pics:
But don't be fooled by those sweet smiles. With all the lagging time and the heat blazing down, those sweet smiles quickly turned into meltdowns. Which leads me to Lesson Learned Two. If you're working with five kids, take the pics as quickly as possible and get 'em done!
Or else you'll have a bawling munchkin in the bunch, like this:
Isn't Mom awesome?!
As for Lesson Learned Three... well, let's just say I will never set the camera on continuous click again. Apparently, I have a pretty aggressive trigger finger and three thousand photos was a lot to sift through.
Alas...

Take a Lick of This!!
I have this vision of a ginormous lollipop and a bunch of surprised little children peeking around it. The lollipop is in focus while the little faces are slightly blurry. Or not. They can all be in focus. I'll try it both ways and see which one I like best. So today, I practiced...
It was just me, a tripod, and a macro lens. Not too bad on judging where to focus, eh? So the above is a single-person version of what I imagine. I may use my 200 lens instead of the macro, though, so I can get more room all around the lollipop. Otherwise, I think this is a winner!
Nice poppy colors... a fun expression... a business label on the lollipop... er, wait a minute! I don't like that. I'll make sure to unwrap the lollipop before I use it in the shoot tomorrow. Or else, I'm going to charge Candylicious for this winning photo session. ;-)
So I'm off to Chappell Hill in the morning for a photo shoot, and then off to Dallas for another. I'm so excited!!
And as always, I will be posting my photographic treasures here and on www.heatherlyblossom.com and on Facebook! Remember to LIKE us there!

The Astros Lost. But I won!
On the way to the Astros game today, we made a quick stop in front of a beautiful graffiti wall in Downtown Houston. Here are some of the images we captured:
No, we didn't just tap some bum on the street. That's my brother. Fortunately, he blends in well with the graffiti wall. Love you Len! :-)

Oh yeah. The Astros lost. But at least I won with these awesome images! :-)

Early to Rise in Chappell Hill, Texas

This image is titled "Are We Done Yet?" But at least he gave me a good emotion to work with.
Why the early wake-up call? Because I wanted to capture some lovely shots of us in Chappell Hill, Texas in the soft morning light. What a place! Not only did I find a beautiful array of old buildings, where I captured such shots as this:
this...
and this...
But I also found a beautiful dirt road where I captured this...
HOWEVER... word of caution: Watch for deer crossing the road. Ten of them came at me. One accidentally rolled off the hood of my car. Fortunately, I was driving slow enough, so she rolled off and hopped into the field uninjured. Unfortunately, she killed the rearview mirror on my driver side.
RIP, sweet mirror. Thank you for letting me see what's behind my car all these years.
Big hugs!

Welcome to Heatherly Blossom's Blog!!
Hi there!!
We apologize for taking so long in getting our site and blog set up. But here we are!
We did have a very successful session Mother's Day weekend with two lovely little girls and their daddy. We highlighted some of the finished pieces on the homepage. But here's a little taste of what else we captured...
Needless to say, the girls had grown delirious by this point and got a case of the giggles. But it didn't end there. Next was this...
Yep. They started looking at my camera like it was a hideous growth on my face. But I don't blame them. We did work them to death. Probably even broke a few child labor laws in the process. But oh well. By the end of the day, I ended up with this great shot!
Bored little girls being bored little girls. But I love them!
You can see the finished pieces on Facebook. Just "Like" Heatherly Blossom Photography!
Meanwhile, we'll see you next time!
